The Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Foundation to spend $5 million bailing out women and teens from New York City jails.
Starting in October teens 16-17 and women that are eligible for bail in any of the city’s jails will be bailed out. Up to 500 people are expected to go free. There are currently 8,200 Black and Latinos in NYC jails.
The organization is pushing for bail reform and it is rumered that John Legend will lend his voice to promote the cause.
